Swedish club’s ‘80s
Party
Leather jackets and purple dresses—what
do they have in common? They are fashion statements from
the 1980s. If you saw a bunch of people dressed in 1980s
fashion in Waikiki recently, it was probably not a time-and-space
distortion from an episode of the Twilight Zone. It was,
the HPU Swedish Student Association’s annual ’80s
Party. [More]

TIM students help HBTA raise
scholarship funds
by Mickey Kromman-Jensen
A handful of HPU Travel Industry Management
(TIM) students helped out at this year’s Hawai‘i
Business Travel Association (HBTA) annual scholarship fundraiser
at the Hawai‘i Prince Golf Course in Ewa Beach. At
the Oct. 27 golf tournament, the TIM students volunteered
as greeters, dispatchers, and hole-in-one witnesses.
“We really appreciate HBTA’s effort
in supporting our education,” said Hyuliya Hasanova,
a TIM senior from Bulgaria. “By volunteering we not
only help a good cause but also establish good relationships
with the industry people.”
Two HPU students have been awarded with HBTA scholarships
since the award program started in 2005.
The HBTA is the local chapter of the National Business
Travel Association (NBTA), which represents the interests
of more
than 2,000 corporate travel managers and travel service
providers worldwide. HBTA is a non-profit organization
whose purpose
is to protect, promote, and advance the knowledge of the
corporate travel professional.
