Three HPU travel industry management (TIM) students were awarded scholarships ranging from $350 to $750 from the Hawai‘i Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association (HHSMA) on Nov. 15.

HPU TIM Program Director Wendy Lam, who was 2006 HHSMA president, and Hawai‘i Tourism Liaison Marsha Wienert, guest speaker at the event, presented the scholarships to Canadian senior and president of the Delta Iota Chapter of the Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society, Heidi Lam; Bulgarian senior and Kahala Hotel & Resort intern, Hyuliya Hasanova; and Hospitality Advisors LLC intern, Mickey Kromann-Jensen, a senior from Denmark.

The HHSMA scholarships are awarded to TIM majors of good character, with a high GPA, who are involved in extracurricular activities. Applications are open to students at four local colleges.

The scholarship recipients were treated to lunch at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Co. at Ala Moana Center.
