Rough start for HPU volleyball team

A 0-2 conference season start is not the beginning that the HPU women’s volleyball team hoped for. After dropping their first two conference games Sept. 21 and 22, the Lady Sea Warriors (5-8 overall) hoped to learn from their mistakes and rebound against Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i and Chaminade on Sept. 28 and 29., before beginning their week-long road trip to Utah and Arizona. Congratulations to freshman middle blocker Kelly Balanay, who was named PacWest Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 10-16. Balanay averaged 3.60 kills and hitting .333 in 10 games. She also recorded 45 total blocks this season.

Play Hard, Run Harder

The 2007 cross country teams began the season running…away from each other. Before departing for Alaska, both teams took to the paintball battlefield at Bellows Air Force Station. Little did the team know that paint balling would set the tone for the remainder of the season. Long after the wounds had mended and the bruises disappeared, the teams look out for one another just as they did on the battlefield. Teams like this do not simply stumble onto the HPU campus. For coaches, the 2007 campaign began long before the runners appeared on campus. [More]
