Student
discovers Oaxaca, Mexico through study abroad program
While most of the world perceives Mexico as a
poor third world country, speaking from experience, there is
most definitely another way to look at Mexico, specifically
the state of Oaxaca (pronounced Wa-ha-ka), a beautiful, mountainous
state that is home to several indigenous peoples and rich cultural
traditions. [More]

Mexico
an exciting academic option for HPU students
College is a time to travel, experience other
cultures, and grow as an individual. One of the best ways to
accomplish these goals, according to Dr. Jon Davidann, director
of HPU’s International Exchange and Travel Abroad Programs,
is to take time during your college career to study abroad.
HPU offers many study abroad programs for the fall and spring
semesters, but little for the summer and less for students
who don’t want to live in another country for a full
15-week semester. One option is Mexico. [More]

Writing
takes on a collaborative effort at HPU:
Optional lab offers writing assistance
In a classroom, students gather in groups around
the room with textbooks open, pens in hand, and ears listening.
From the outside, it looks like these students are working
on group projects; listening to their conversation one realizes
they are discussing writing. [More] |

Students
learn, teach writing
Improving one’s writing skill requires
practice. Added to this is an opportunity to look beyond
practice and examine how individuals write so we can better
understand the challenges associated with the process of
writing. For students there is an opportunity to tutor other
students to be better writers while earning academic credit
and being paid. [More]
