HPU Assistant Professor of Human Resource Management (HRM) Dr. Cheryl Crozier Garcia has earned the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).

The certification signifies that Crozier Garcia possesses the theoretical knowledge and practical experience in human resource management necessary to pass a rigorous examination demonstrating a mastery of the body of knowledge in the field.

To become certified, an applicant must pass a comprehensive examination and demonstrate a strong background of professional human resource experience.

“ Certification as a human resource professional clearly demonstrates a commitment to personal excellence and to the human resource profession,” said Susan Meisinger, SPHR, president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management.

An HPU faculty member since 1994, Crozier Garcia is the faculty sponsor of HPU’s SHRM student chapter and coaches the team at the Hawai‘i HR Games. She currently serves as one of eight national directors of the HRCI.

In addition to her HR involvement, Crozier Garcia is certified in worker’s compensation law and hazard control and has 10 years of experience in the insurance industry where she specialized in life and health underwriting.
Crozier Garcia earned a B.A. in Management from Antioch College, an MBA from HPU, and a Ph.D. in applied management from Walden University.
