Associated Students of HPU (ASHPU) held its seventh annual Monster’s Ball on Oct. 25 at Planet Hollywood in Waikiki. 400 presale tickets were sold before doors opened and about another 30 students waited outside for an opportunity to get in. Montanee Pornmukda, sophomore representative, planned the event with help from other members of ASHPU.

“ I went because it sounded like this would be a big event,” said Dafne Deniz, a senior majoring in communication. “I like the location, because it is really close to where I live.”

Transportation was provided to and from the Hawai‘i Loa campus, the downtown shuttle stop, and the Ohia and Hana Student Suites.

Pupus, a witch’s brew, and an open bar, were provided.

Costume contests were held throughout the night including Best Couple, Most Scary, and Most Funny. The winners were awarded prizes, such as a digital camera, in each category.

“ I really enjoyed being there,” said Tim Lussier, junior representative and entrepreneurial studies major. “ [it was good to see] the student government trying to be more active, and this is one way to get out there and meet students.”
