.About Us

by the officers of Toastmasters

Imagine a room full of total strangers. Suddenly someone points at you, asking you to speak. You are scared. You don’t know what to say. You might not even speak English as your first language. You are afraid you will stumble, stutter, and be at a loss for words.
Imagine it being your first job interview, or a challenge at work to gain a promotion.
Can you let it slip away? Can you let it pass? If you want that job or promotion, should you not be the first one to jump up, take the microphone, and shout out your name? Do you know exactly what we are talking about?
The truth is we all need to have something special—courage, passion, and strength, in addition to appearing professional and confident—if we are to get over our fear of talking in public!
So, are you ready for a change?
Toastmasters International can help you to develop the skills you need.
The Polyglot Toastmasters Club at HPU is for all students and alumni who would like to learn how to improve their professional speaking skills.
The club’s goal is for its members to look professional, act professional, and sound professional, and its members and advisors guide each other on the way to becoming professional public speakers.
Toastmasters will provide you with the tools to achieve your goals within the club, and we will support you in taking the first steps to becoming a professional public speaker!
Now it is up to you. You are in charge of your own destiny and your future. Will you make it the best it can be and give yourself the best opportunities you can get? Why not seize the opportunity and along the way, make new friends and enjoy BBQs and other club activities?
Polyglot Toastmasters meets every Wednesday, 11:45 a.m.–12:45 p.m., in BH310, the Kalamalama conference room, 1154 Fort St.
