Psi Chi, the HPU chapter of the National Honor Society of Psychology, attained “Model Chapter” status for the first time last year, and this year it received the Psi Chi Regional Chapter Award for Western Region schools. Chapter members will receive a plaque at the 2009 Western Psychological Association Convention in Portland, Oregon, and a check for $500 from the National Council for Psi Chi. In addition, chapter advisor Dr. Brian Metcalf received the Psi Chi Regional Faculty Advisor Award and will also receive a check for $500 and a plaque at the WPA convention.
“I am certainly honored to receive this recognition,” said Metcalf, adding: “I am glad that the students in this remarkable chapter are being acknowledged with the Regional Chapter Award. They deserve the credit. It’s easy and fun to be the advisor to such a dedicated and hard-working group of officers.”
Among these officers are: Co-Presidents Lindsay Clements and Lauren Kagami; Vice President, Megan Blaine; Secretary/Treasurer, Eula Chu; and
