Finance prof writes new book for new course

Associate Professor of Finance Gunter Meissner will use his book, Credit Derivatives – Application, Pricing, and Risk Management, in his new class, Corporate Risk Management, scheduled for fall 2005.


HPU team presents paper on sustainable tourism

Gui Albieri, HPU assistant director of International Admissions, and TIM professor, Dr. Jerry Agrusa, presented a paper on sustainable tourism at the International Conference on Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability at the East-West Center, Feb. 25-27. They have since been asked to submit “The Bottom-Up Approach to Sustainable Tourism: Prainha do Canto Verde Case Study,” for publication in the International Journal of Environmental, Cultural, Economic, and Social Sustainability.


College of Business starts mentoring program

The job market is extremely competitive. Employers are looking for graduates who have distinguished themselves beyond the classroom: athletics, clubs, volunteerism, work experience. In fall ‘05, the College of Business Administration will offer students an opportunity to distinguish themselves in the eyes of potential employers through participation in a mentoring program.

Assistant Dean of HPU’s College of Communication, Dr. John Hart, has been approved for candidacy on the Fulbright Senior Specialists Roster.


Aloha from the President

I am pleased to announce that HPU’s School of Nursing successfully completed its reaccreditation site visit Feb. 22-24. The visit was conducted by three National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) site evaluators. Their recommendation is that both the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and the Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) programs be fully accredited for the maximum period of eight years.

No matter religion, the world stands in awe of the humanitarian and spiritual contribution John Paul II made during his 27-year tenure as Pope of the Roman Catholic Church. He built bridges to other faiths, inspired a whole generation of youth on all the continents, cared for the poor, defied the threats of Soviet domination, held firm to his beliefs, and showed us how to live and how to die. He journeyed to 129 countries, and brought the presence of a living and loving God to every corner of the globe.
